A meeting with a veteran of Russian letters, Yuz Aleshkovsky, concludes our 2007-08 Literary series.
Yuz Aleshkovsky began his career as a writer only after a stint in the armed forces, several years in a labor camp, and a number of odd jobs. His first books were for children, and he later wrote film and TV scripts. He was best known in the Soviet Union for his irreverent samizdat song lyrics and equally irreverent novels “The Hand”, “Kangaroo” and others. He has been living in the United States since 1979.
