Join the HIAS (Hebrew Immigration Aid Society) and the genealogy club "Roots & History" for a special Remembrance meeting about the Holocaust.
We will have the honor to meet Edward Lessing, who will share the incredible story of his survival as a child in hiding during the war.
Valery Bazarov, HIAS' historian, will discuss Jewish migration before, during and after WWII, with a focus on HIAS' rescue operations during those times. The presentation will also review HIAS' work with displaced people in the aftermath of the Holocaust.
Discussion will be followed by a short commemoration ceremony for HIAS' wartime staff members who perished in Europe while saving refugees and in remembrance of the six million Jews who died in the Holocaust.
Wednesday, May 14th, 6:30pm
