This year's festival is the biggest yet with 17 bands, including 7 international bands, and 6 DJs who will be presenting the colorful Gypsy spirit over 9 days (Sept 24 Oct 3). In its 4th year running, the festival will once again brings the breadth of contemporary Gypsy music from all over the world with a line-up that includes bands which preserve the original musical forms as well as others that mix it up with electronica, jazz, dub and European-style cabaret.
Whether it is Turkish band Baba Zula's unique psychedelic belly-dancing Oriental dub music; Dotschy Reinhardt's Gypsy Swing, Jazz, Bossa Nova, and Latin mix, inspired by her grandfather, the great Django Reinhardt; or French nomads Watch Clan, who speed forward through frenetic rhythms rendering homage to their roots in French, Arabic, Hebrew and English, there is a little bit for everyone in this year's bag of tricks.
