Our distinguished panel will consist of the following: PA Representative Austin Davis (PA 35th District): Rep. Austin Davis represents the 35th legislative district, which is based in the Mon Valley.  By the time he graduated high school in 2008, Davis decided to attend the University of Pittsburgh, with his sight set on pursing a degree in political science.  Post-college, Davis accepted a position with Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, where he served as an executive assistant to the county executive's office. In this capacity, Davis spearheaded the county executive's vision/transition teams in the early days of the administration. He also represented the county executive in a number of ways, including serving as Fitzgerald’s representative on a number of boards.   Outside of this role, Davis is actively involved and currently serving as the vice chairman of the Allegheny County Democratic Committee, as well as on the board of directors for the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, The Consortium for Public Education, Communities in Schools of Pittsburgh, and Auberle.  Davis currently resides in McKeesport with his wife, Blayre Davis. Councilperson Erika Strassburger (Pittsburgh District 8): Erika Strassburger is a Member of Pittsburgh City Council serving District 8, which includes the Oakland, Point Breeze, Shadyside, and Squirrel Hill neighborhoods. She was the first woman elected to this seat. Previously, Erika served as Chief of Staff for the district for four years under former-Councilman Dan Gilman. Prior to that, Councilperson Strassburger worked for nearly a decade for environmental advocacy organizations PennEnvironment and Environment New Hampshire, taking the lead on several legislative victories including passage of renewable electricity standards, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, and building efficiency and appliance efficiency standards. Councilperson Strassburger graduated with honors from Bucknell University with a degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in International Relations. She and her husband live in Squirrel Hill.  Councilman Tom Baker (Allegheny County District 1): County Councilman Tom Baker was elected on November 5, 2013 and re-elected on November 7, 2017 to represent District 1 in Allegheny County. He previously served as a School Director in the North Hills School District. Councilman Baker serves on several committees including Marketing (Chair), Economic Development and Housing, Education, Health and Human Services, and Public Safety and also is Caucus Chairman. He represents over 100,000 residents in his district. He is a gradate of Millersville University and IUP.   Councilman Baker and his wife, Erin, have been married since July 10, 2004 and live in Ross Township with their daughter Lila June Baker who was born on January 23, 2018. Jennifer Beer Vice President, Government Affairs, Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce (An Affiliate of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development):  Jenn Beer joined the Allegheny Conference on Community Development in 2007 and serves as its vice president for government affairs. In this capacity, she supports the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce by directing state legislative and policy issues that are aligned with the strategic priorities of the organization. Jenn manages multiple state-wide coalitions, including CompetePA – a statewide business tax reform coalition, the NAP (Neighborhood Assistance Program) Coalition – a statewide alliance in support of increasing the NAP tax credit and a joint partnership between the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber and the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia.   She has been instrumental in the advocacy efforts to secure state public pension reform, comprehensive state transportation funding, and numerous other business climate and local government initiatives. Jenn can be seen as a re-occurring guest representing the business community on “Our Region’s Business”, a weekly a Sunday-morning business affairs program coproduced by the Allegheny Conference on Community Development and WPXI-TV.  Before joining the Conference, Jenn spent four years in Washington, D.C. as government affairs manager with the Society of Interventional Radiology, and previous to that she was a legislative assistant for Pennsylvania State Representative Dan Frankel.  Jenn graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a concentration in Russian Studies. She also has a Graduate Certificate in Political Management from The George Washington University.  Jenn lives with her husband, two kids and dog in Mt.
