In 1806, the crew of the Russian ship the Juno stopped off at the Presidio, desperate to obtain supplies for the struggling colony at Sitka. While here, the Juno’s commander, Nikolai Rezanov, a nobleman and statesman and Concepcíon Arguello, the commandante’s daughter, got engaged. Explore Russia’s ill-fated quest for a Pacific empire and this epic, also ill-fated, Presidio love story in this history that traverses both oceans and worlds.
