About Ethan Cohen Gallery:
Ethan Cohen Fine Arts has presented both emerging and internationally renowned artists for over 25 years. Many of the emerging artists have now become household names. The gallery occupies a distinct place in contemporary art as a center of innovation across disciplines and countries. It serves artists and clientele through international art fairs, curatorial projects with top institutions and as a center for seminal cultural events. Today Ethan Cohen Fine Arts has two gallery locations, one in Chelsea in the heart of New York City and the other in Beacon, New York. The Ethan Cohen gallery was founded in 1987 as Art Waves/Ethan Cohen in SoHo, New York City. A groundbreaker in the field of contemporary Chinese art, it was the first gallery to present the Chinese Avant-Garde of the '80s to the United States. It introduced the works of now celebrated artists, such as Ai Weiwei, Xu Bing, Gu Wenda, Wang Keping and Qiu Zhijie. Ethan Cohen Fine Arts today represents a diverse global mix of art, including contemporary American, African, Iranian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Pakistani and Thai, with a continuing focus on emerging as well as established artists.
Ethan Cohen Gallery in Contemporary Istanbul:
Last year, The American Turkish Society was one of the sponsors of Turkey’s leading international art fair, Contemporary Istanbul's Gallery Support Program (GSP). Launched in 2017, GSP subsidizes galleries from around the world to attend the fair and test the Turkish market. In an attempt to encourage galleries in the US to attend the fair, The Society was pleased to support Ethan Cohen Fine Arts Gallery to participate in CI’s 2018 edition that took place between 20-23, September 2018 in Istanbul. Why Your Support Matters: It is through your support that we continue to foster cultural, diplomatic, economic and business relations between Turkey and The United States. This particular member’s only event emphasizes the work we do to strengthen cultural ties between both countries. In addition to supporting CI’s GSP and thus, Ethan Cohen Gallery; please click here to read more about The School of Visual Arts (SVA) Summer Residency Scholarship Program, a program we fund each year to support Turkish artists to attend SVA’s  Summer Residency Program.
