SUMMARY:Evangelical Theological Society - 2019 Midwest Regional Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Writing in the areas of liberation theologies, cultural identities, and anthropology, Dr. Jennings has authored more than 40 scholarly essays and nearly two-dozen reviews.  Jennings’ book, The Christian Imagination: Theology and the Origins of Race (Yale 2010) won the American Academy of Religion Award of Excellence in the Study of Religion in the Constructive-Reflective category the year after it appeared and, in 2015, the Grawemeyer Award in Religion, the largest prize for a theological work in North America.
The Evangelical Philosophical Society speaker is Dr. Michelle Panchuk, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, Murray State University.

Dr. Panchuk’s current research clusters at the intersection of philosophy of religion with trauma theory and feminist philosophy, offering a philosophical account of, and response to, the phenomena of religious trauma and spiritual violence. Her other interests include metaphysics, the history of Russian philosophy, and philosophy of race.  Her work has been published in Res Philosophica, International Philosophical Quarterly, and The Encyclopedia of Philosophy of Religion.
The meeting will also feature contributions from Dr. Todd A. Wilson (President, The Center for Pastor Theologians) and Dr. Gerald Hiestand (Executive Director, The Center for Pastor Theologians).

Before coming on staff with the CPT, Dr. Wilson served as the Senior Pastor of Calvary Memorial Church for ten years (2008-2018). He is the author of The Curse of the Law and the Crisis in Galatia (Mohr-Siebeck), Mere Sexuality (Zondervan), and several other books.

Dr. Hiestand has served as the CPT Executive Director since 2006 and serves as the Interim Senior Pastor of Calvary Memorial Church in Oak Park.  He is the author of The Pastor Theologian (Zondervan), Becoming a Pastor Theologian, and Beauty, Order and Mystery (IVP Academic).  He is the general editor of the CPT's Bulletin of Ecclesial Theology.
We eagerly look forward to engaging this theme from biblical, theological, and philosophical perspectives and encourage the wide participation of scholars and local pastors in this conversation.
