Was talk of missing out on use of big data just another hype by consultants to sell their services? What are the major changes taking place in businesses due to the availability and analysis of massive amounts of online and offline data? Where are the business opportunities and jobs?

Afshin Goodarzi chief data analyst 1010 data. In 2015, 1010 Data was bought by Advance/Newhouse for $500 million.
A recognized leader in the field of Big Data analytics, Afshin has led several teams in designing, building and delivering predictive models and analytical products to a diverse set of industries. Prior to joining 1010data, Afshin was a Managing Director of Mortgage Analytics at Equifax, where he was responsible for the creation of new data products and the supporting analytics to the financial services industry. Previously, he led the development of various classes of predictive models aimed at the mortgage industry during his tenure at Loan Performance (Corelogic). Prior to that he worked at BlackRock, the research center for NYNEX (present day Verizon), and Norkom Technologies.

 Michael Recce, chief data scientist Neuberger Berman, which manages over $330 billion in assets. He is building a data science team that will leverage large, unstructured, novel data to evaluate the health of business. The initial focus for the team is international equities. Prior to joining Neuberger Berman, Michael held a similar role at GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, and at Point72 Asset Management. Before transitioning into the investment industry, Michael was a university professor for over twenty years, and helped set up and manage two successful start-up companies. Bruce Taragin managing director at Blumberg Capital.  He has more than 25 years experience as a venture capital investor, entrepreneur, technology investment banker and corporate attorney.Prior to joining Blumberg Capital, Bruce co-founded and held several senior management positions within technology companies including Charles River Computers. Earlier she was a senior vice president of the US-Russia Investment Fund, based in Moscow; consulting for AIG Consumer Finance and Societe Generale; being a VP at NatWest; and working at Chase Manhattan. Christine is on the Board of Governors and Co-Chair of the Program Committee at the Princeton Club of NY.
