SUMMARY:This Side of the Sea: Screening and Q&A
DESCRIPTION:is an animated short film developed to explore intergenerational trauma in America’s Russian-Speaking Jewish immigrant community, and start to close a generational gap in the understanding of our past.

Directed by Ilya Tselnik, a Moldavian-American Jewish immigrant and animator living in New York City, the film aims to use the nostalgic medium of animation to tell a modern and fantastic story inspired by the artist’s own family and experiences, asking the audience to consider how our shared culture, heritage, and history can both unite and divide us.

Hosted at Stuart Cinema & Cafe in Brooklyn, the short film will be introduced and screened for the very first time, accompanied by an open Q&A with the director. Doors open at 7:00pm, and the presentation begins at 7:30 pm.

This Side of the Sea is created as part of the COJECO BluePrint Fellowship, supported by COJECO and the Genesis Philanthropy Group.
