Members can also do hiking along Long Island Sound from Oyster Bay to Bayville Village along scenic walk way, about 1.5 mile one way. The entrance is near Beekman Beach. The Oyster Festival takes over three football field sized areas plus four blocks and offers a fun mixture of new activities and old favorites that are certain to entertain the entire family including live entertainment, ships, top-notch artisans, pirate shows, amusement rides, and the iconic oyster eating and shucking contest. And of course...the Food Courts, where volunteer chefs and culinary pros work side by side, cooking and serving dozens of unique oyster, clam and other seafood concoctions along with traditional festival fare. There will be a free shuttle bus waiting for people to bring to the festival and back to LIRR. You can take a train to Oyster Bay Station from Jamaica, Penn Station or Atlantic Terminal. Trains run every hour. Festival is right near LIRR. Take advantage of buying discounted package which incl. R/t tickets, and vouchers for 5 oysters.
