SUMMARY:WHITE MOUNTAINS, NH: Mts. Imp, South & Middle Carter (Appalachian trail)
DESCRIPTION:обстоятельствам.Маршрут совместно с нашими друзьями туристами из Бостона, настоящими знатоками вершин NH. План похода: We'll be meeting at the Nineteen Mile Brook Trailhead parking lot (Rt. 16). Unless you have a USFS sticker, be prepared to pay.Walk about 1/3 road miles up north to the AMC Camp Dodge to start the trail up Mt. Imp. Imp is a loop trail, we'll bear left, pass through Camp Dodge and after a steep ascent - on to the ridge towards North Carter Trail, which will bring us to the beautiful Carter-Moriah Trail. If we bear left, the trail would bring us to the Imp summit and eventually - Mt. Moriah. BUT we'll bear right, to hike the Carters Range, and pass by the summits of the unremarkable but tall Mt. Lethe, then Middle Carter and South Carter. Get to Zeta Pass (very pretty, especially in snow) and still staying on Carter-Moriah Trail descent into Carter Notch. Carter Notch, which divides Carters and Wildcats, offers one of the most dramatic views in White Mountains, and that's where the AMC Carter Hut is. This hut will be open but unmaintained in the winter. From the hut we'll orient towards Nineteen Mile Brook Trail - a fairly low grade, pretty but long (around 3.5 mi) way to our cars. This trail got rebuilt and slightly rerouted in its beginning section over the past couple of years, due to erosion, and the mileage on the map/GPS may not be precise. The trail is very straightforward though. Carters and the Notch are known for high amounts of snow during snowstorms. With significant precipitations a day prior to the hike, be prepared to break the trail OR start after 8 am and let others do it for you. :) A couple of sections on the descent from Middle and South Carters can be icy. I never had to use crampons on Carters, but if you have them, bring them along just in case; based on trail conditions we'll decide at the parking lot if the spikes would not be sufficient. Mountaineering snowshoes with the built-in crampons are likely to do the trick. http://4000footers.com/cartermiddle.shtml http://kaibab.org/kaibab.org/nh13a/nh13a.htm http://hopsonrocks.com/hikes/middle_south_carter.html План маршрута:Приезжаем в пятницуВ субботу утром маршрут.В вскр желающие катаются на лыжах, посещают замёрзшие водопады.Возвращаемся домой.
