DESCRIPTION:place, I would recommend to take Sweet Hollow Road and turn right into north entrance. Picturesque, well-groomed nature trails, including the historic Walt Whitman Trail to Jayne's Hill (Long Island's highest peak, at an elevation of 400 feet), wind through this highly popular, mixed-deciduous forested park. I am planning to explore an other side of the park, West Hills Nature Preserve accross DDT farm. It is about 4 miles a loop. You can also enjoy well trained gracious horses at the farm and take close photos with them. It is less than an hour (no tolls) driving from Brooklyn.I can also pick up some hikers from NYC or Queens from Syosset LIRR.
