SUMMARY:Hiking in Target Rock National Wildlife Refuge, Heckscher Park in Huntington
DESCRIPTION:We can also walk around a pond to see wildlife and clime over a hill nearby. If you are lucky you can see deers from a top. Due to limited parking ( 25 cars), I would recommend to arrive around 10 a.m. Parking is filling up guick. After hiking we will drive about 16 min. south to Huntington Heckscher Park, 25 Prime Ave. Entrance is free, but parking is small. Park on the streets or on the parking near a church (half block from an entrance). You can enjoy more than 20,000 blooming tulips in the park. Every year, Town of Huntington used to celebrating Tulip Festival on the first Sun. in May. This year, Festival is off, but not Tulips! Just in case, if you are not able to park in the first place after 10 а.m, you can drive to Gaumsett State Historic Park, and we can meet at 12:30 at the Heckscher Park near reservoir. http://fws.gov http://huntingtonny.gov
