SUMMARY:Lost City Mohonk-Minnewaska Rock Scramble-Hike
DESCRIPTION:Let's start with the Lost City itself walking from the High Peters Kill parking lot and trailhead off Clove Rd.(E. of Rte. 44-55 and Trapps Rd.), and then hike along it on the High Peters Kill trail on the ridge in the interior of the preserve and into the northern part of Minnewaska Preserve. We'll then hike back in the valley south of the HPK Trail. There are initially no formal trails in the Lost City, so you just have to follow the ridge south. Unless you climb up to the top of the ridge and stay out of the rocks, you may want to leave children at home for this hike. Hike distance: 6-7 miles round-trip. We might go to a craft beer place in Kerhonkson afterward. In order to stay together, people of at least moderate hiking ability only. Cancelled if rain; will advance to Sat. if possible. It may be slightly chilly, so plan accordingly.

How to find us: Coxing Trailhead parking lot at the High Peters Kill trailhead, Clove Road, Mohonk State Preserve, NY.  It's a small parking lot, so try to get there early.  If lot is full, park at the West Trapps Trailhead or Mohonk Preserve Visitor Center parking lots, and walk north to the Coxing Trailhead lot.
