SUMMARY:The Great North Woods of NH Hiking and ?
DESCRIPTION:North Woods. After camping out at the well-known Dolly Copp campground Friday night, we'll drive north to Dixville Notch State Park near Lake Gloriette, most of the way to the Canadian border. This will give great views of the nearby notch, lake and nearby mountains from rock outcroppings. Tabletop Rock (1.5 miles round-trip) is pictured, but we'll also do short hikes up and down Mt. Abnaki N. of and/or Mt. Sanguinary NE of the lake; the last at 5 miles round-trip is the longest hike of the three. I'd also like to hike that afternoon at N/ Percy between Dixville and Dolly Copp; details to follow. We'll spend Sunday morning hiking out and back at Rogers Ledge, which supposedly has some of the best rock scrambling in NH. There are great views of the Pilot Range to the west here, and of the Presidential Range to the south. We'll drive back Sunday afternoon, unless people are open for driving back Sunday; I can take off all Fri. and Sun. We could maybe do a short hike in NH or VT on the way up if we leave early; I was thinking of Mt. Killington in VT, or Monadnock in S. NH. I am open to taking off all day on Friday and/or Monday. If we take off all Mon., I thought of hiking the Baldface Ridge loop on Sun., and Rogers Ledge (or a shorter hike across the border in VT) Mon. morning. Trip will be cancelled in the event of probable heavy rains/thuderstorms. Bring normal hiking and camping gear, including clothing and camping gear for sudden cold weather, sun protection and headlamp.

How to find us: I'll give my tent location once I arrive; camping is first come, first served, but sites are almost always available.
