SUMMARY:Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts Autumn Hiking Loop
DESCRIPTION:Camp at walk-in campsite 1- 1 ½ miles N. of parking lot SW of Mt. Greylock summit. If the loop is a clockface, the campsite just off the trail is at the six o-clock. Hike loop Sat. or Sun., on day of better weather. Go clockwise up steep S. slopes of Stony Ledge and Mt. Prospect, then S. up N. sides of Fitch and Greylock, with Mt. Williams before those two. Other day: drive to N. Taconics trailhead W. Of Williamstown, and hike up and down the Taconics ridge at MA-NY-VT border, maybe as far as Snow Hole in VT. The grade is slight and grassy, so mileage should be good; the main scenery would be autumn foliage. There are several Shaker houses and museums in MA and NY nearby if we want to see these instead of the Taconic; the largest is Hancock Village W. of Pittsfield, MA, and there’s one near Old Chatham, NY. I’d be open to a third day if people wanted to see the Berkshires, Taconics and the Shaker places. https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/massachusetts/mount-prospect-mount-williams-and-mount-greylock-loop-via-appalachian-trail?mobileMap=false&ref=sidebar-static-map&ref=sidebar-view-full-map https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sperry+Road+Campground/@42.632605,-73.1878217,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x5e8e050271706376!8m2!3d42.632605!4d-73.1878217 https://taconichikingclub.org/taconic-crest-trail https://hancockshakervillage.org/ https://www.shakermuseum.us/visit/visit-page/
