SUMMARY:Shorter Hikes in the Adirondacks
DESCRIPTION:not as much as the holiday weekend after it. I'd like to go up early on Fri., hike one of the very short Owl's Head peaks, then set up tent at a camp site near Mt. Van Hoevenberg. Sat., we'll hike the Jays E. of the campsite, and N. of Keene/Keene Valley. Then we'll drive to and hike Mt. Catamount (pictured), N. of Mt. Whiteface, and with lakes on three other sides. Time permitting, we'll then walk around the old town of Saranac Lake, by the shores of the same. We can eat there, at a good brewpub/restaurant in Lake Placid, or at the campsite. On Sunday, we'll hike the five-mile S. path up and down Mt. Hurricane, then drive home.
