SUMMARY:The Great North Woods and White Mountains of NH Hiking Trip
DESCRIPTION:North Woods. We may hike up and down Mt. Killington in VT on the way up Wed. After camping out at the well-known Dolly Copp campground Wed. night, we'll drive north Thur. to Dixville Notch State Park near Lake Gloriette, most of the way to the Canadian border. This will give great views of the nearby notch, lake and nearby mountains from rock outcroppings. Tabletop Rock (1.5 miles round-trip) is pictured, but we'll also do short hikes up and down Mt. Abenaki N. of Tabletop or Mt. Sanguinary NE of the lake; the last at 5 miles round-trip is the longest hike of the three. I'd also like to hike that afternoon at North (and South?) Percy between Dixville and Dolly Copp. We'll hike the long 9-11 miles Baldface Ridge loop in the northeastern Whites (E. of Dolly Copp) on Fri., and on Sat. either Rogers Ledge E. of Mt. Cabot in the northern Whites, or a 10-mile loop across the border at Tumbledown Mt. in Maine. Rogers is 9 miles out and back, mostly flat through the woods, with great rock scrambling in the middle. There are great views of the Pilot Range to the west here, and of the Presidential Range to the south. Tumbledown is up and down a small mountain cluster, with a small lake in the middle. Sun. we'll drive back, with enough time to do a 5-mile hike up and down Burke Mt., NE of Lyndonville, VT, a very pretty town with old red brick buildings. Trip will be cancelled in the event of probable heavy rains/thunderstorms. Bring normal hiking and camping gear, including clothing and camping gear for sudden cold weather, sun protection and headlamp. Reservation and map links in the comments.

How to find us: I'll give my tent location once I arrive; camping is first come, first served, but sites are almost always available.
