DESCRIPTION:how an Aircraft Carrier works? If so please join the USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum’s STEM (Science, Technology, and Engineering & Math) Manager Ms. Charlotte Rodeem-Dickert and Mr. Jamie Hyneman, former host of Discovery Channel’s MythBusters (and Alameda resident), for a special educational presentation. Together they will uncover the technological wonders of the USS Hornet Museum.

Tickets: Youth under 12 are free accompanied with a paid adult. Tickets to the event are $25.00 per person and are available at the door or in advance on our www.uss-hornet.org
 
About Jamie Hyneman:
James Franklin Hyneman is an American special effects expert and was the co-host (alongside Adam Savage) of the television series MythBusters. He is also the owner of M5 Industries, the special effects workshop where MythBusters was filmed. He is known among Robot Wars devotees for his robot entry, Blendo, which, for a time, was deemed too dangerous for entry in the competition. He is one of the designers of the aerial robotic camera system Wavecam, used in sports and entertainment events. 
 
He earned a degree in Russian linguistics from Indiana University. He also received an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree from Villanova University. On November 25, 2011, Hyneman was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Twente in Enschede, Netherlands for his role in the popularization of science and technology. In February 2017 he was named one of the fourteen new Honorary Doctors of technology by Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland. He will receive the doctorate in June 2017. He is also an Alameda resident.  
About USS Hornet STEM Programs:
Come aboard and discover a museum experience where science and history meet hands-on exploration! Based on the Next Generation Science Standards, these workshops allow students to explore physics and Earth sciences in a hands-on learning environment. They see first-hand how classroom concepts are put to use powering a ship, launching aircraft, and more. Our STEM labs merge history and science in a way only the USS Hornet Sea, Air, & Space Museum can!
