SUMMARY:FREE Walking Tour of East Boston HarborWalk (Orient Heights - Belle Isle)
DESCRIPTION:is limited and we want to be able to contact you in case of inclement weather.  We will meet outside the Orient Heights MBTA Blue Line station at 10:00 am.

After leaving Orient Heights, we will walk up the hill to the lookout from the Don Orion plaza and enjoy views of airport and the Harbor Islands beyond. We will walk down Breed Street toward Bennington Street and discuss the immigrant settlements in this area (Irish, Russian Jews, Italians) and point out the 2 burying grounds.  We will stop in at East Boston Yacht Club to see view of the airport and discuss the former Wood Island Park by Ohlmstead. We will walk to Constitution Beach and discuss the amenities offered to residents. We will walk along Constitution Beach to Bayswater Street and along edge of marsh (depending on tide) to Saratoga Street Bridge. Here we'll discuss the cleanup needed in this area, the marsh and future kayaking tours. Finally, the group can grab lunch at Belle Island Seafood.

This will be one of our longer walking tours - approximately 2 miles - and we’ll be outside the entire time, so please dress for the weather, and bring water and a snack!
The Friends of the Boston HarborWalk is a volunteer organization with Boston Harbor Now. We meet monthly and host guided walks along Boston's 47-mile HarborWalk. If you have participated in one or more of our walks, please consider participating in the Friends or making a small donation to the all-volunteer group.
