DESCRIPTION:Humanities and the Higher School of Economics in Moscow. In this field she's been known to find an awful lot of unexpected connections between costume theory and everything else—and to present them in the characteristically witty manner of the novelist and wry social observer.
She arrives in New York to celebrate her book of absurdist miniatures, newly translated into English, Found Life, For our evening, she will talk with us on the theme: “Не будет барсеток — не будет и Путина»: Костюм российского протеста” (“No Pouchette, No Putin: The Dress Code of Russian Protest”).
Linor was born in 1975 in Dnepropetrovsk. She is a poet, prose writer, essayist, and translator. She is an author of 20 books of poems and prose as well as children’s books. She has translated to Russian Etgar Keret’s novels and Vitautas Pliura’s poems (in collaboration with Stanislav Lvovsky). Since 2014 Linor Goralik has been Editor-in-Chief of the Booknik.ru internet portal which is dedicated to the Jewish literature and culture. Linor Goralik won the Triumph Young Award (2003), Russian independent prize for excellence in literature and art, and the Portal Award (2012), international prize for phantasy novels and critics. Linor is also the creative force behind a witty cartoon strip "Damn Hare and His Imaginary Friends: Q, W, Hot Bottle and Corn Schnitzel".
