DESCRIPTION:The concept of the Yale Career Panels has been to present a panel of people who can provide the audience with candid views and dispel misperceptions of various professions. This event features three outstanding panelists who are involved in journalism and publishing. All three are graduates of Yale University.The panel discussion will be broadcast over the internet as an interactive streaming video. There will also be the opportunity to attend in New York where the panelists will be located. During the last twenty minutes the panelists hope to engage in a discussion with the audience.

Time: April 10, 2018 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm EST
(The panelists have agreed to stay for an additional 30 minutes from 5:30 pm to 6 pm to answer additional questions from the attendees at the 230 Park Avenue location)

Biographies:
 James Dao
 James Dao is the Op-Ed editor of The New York Times, overseeing the daily Op-Ed page, the Op-Ed pages of the New York Times international edition, the Sunday Review and an array of online opinion features. Prior to joining the opinion section in February 2016, he was the deputy national editor. Over the course of his 26 years with The Times, he has been a national correspondent, Washington correspondent, Albany bureau chief, military and veterans affairs correspondent and deputy metro editor. He covered the impeachment of President Clinton, the presidential election of 2000, the invasion of Iraq, the Sago mine disaster in West Virginia and Hurricane Katrina. In 2010 and 2011, he produced an 8-part series on the yearlong deployment to Afghanistan of an Army battalion, “A Year at War,” which received an Emmy and Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University award.
 Elizabeth Sullivan
 Elizabeth Sullivan has been opinion director of cleveland.com since 2013 and leads the editorial board for The Plain Dealer and cleveland.com. She has headed The Plain Dealer’s editorial board since 2009. Prior to that, Sullivan was the paper’s foreign affairs columnist and an associate editor of the editorial pages of The Plain Dealer.
 As the newspaper’s European Correspondent in the 1990s, she covered the Balkan wars and the breakup of Yugoslavia. Her 1990 article predicting the end of Yugoslavia was one of the first to foresee that bloody outcome. In 1994, at the height of the Bosnian war, she was held for 75 hours by the Bosnian Serb Army. Sullivan also chronicled the post-Cold War transitions in Russia, Germany and Eastern Europe, and has reported from Israel, the West Bank, Northern Ireland, Cuba and North and South Korea. In 1985, during a three-month journey
through China on a Gannett Journalism fellowship, she was one of the early Western travelers to reach Tibet. Sullivan has circled the world twice, in opposite directions. She is conversant in Russian and Serbo-Croatian and has a traveling vocabulary for French, Spanish, Chinese and German.
Sullivan, a third-generation journalist whose parents met in Shanghai while covering the Chinese civil war, came to The Plain Dealer in 1979 as a business reporter and also covered labor, courts, suburban politics and the Cleveland police, among other assignments.
She is a first violinist with the Cleveland Women’s Orchestra and, as a member of the second class of women admitted to Yale as freshmen, is active in Yale alumni/ae affairs.
Chloe Tsang
Chloe Tsang is the Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President of Worldwide Newsgathering at NBC News.
She first joined NBC News as a member of the highly competitive News Associates program, starting her tenure on the network’s breaking news desk. During her time there, she contributed to newsgathering and coverage efforts for breaking news events such as the Las Vegas shooting, the California wildfires and the Amtrak derailment in Washington.
Prior to joining NBC News, Chloe worked as a features reporter for Metro, where she pitched and wrote lifestyle, music and entertainment stories for the company’s digital and print editions. She also served as a revenue strategy intern for Vox Media, where she helped coordinate, write and produce branded content for Eater, Racked and other Vox properties.
Chloe graduated from Yale College in 2017 with a dual degree in political science and French. She currently serves as the co-chair of the Yale Alumni Journalism Association and as the chapter leader for the association's New York City chapter. 
Peter Young (Moderator)
Peter Young is President and a Managing Director of Young & Partners, a leading boutique investment banking firm focused on the life science and chemical industries. He manages the firm and is actively involved in client transactions and financings. Under his leadership, Young & Partners has established and maintained its position as a highly regarded firm.
Prior to founding Young & Partners, Peter was head of various related industry groups at Salomon Brothers, Schroders, and Lehman Brothers for ten years. Early in his career, while with Bain & Co., Peter provided strategic advice to major chemical and life science companies. He was also a senior member of J.H. Whitney & Co. the venture capital firm.
Peter received an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School (Baker Scholar with Highest Distinction), an M.S. in Accounting from the New York University and a B.A. in Economics from Yale University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
