SUMMARY:Securing Democracy After 2016
DESCRIPTION:democracy, as seen in the Brexit referendum and last year’s French presidential election. So what lessons can be gleaned from past Russian interference? How can governments prevent future meddling? And perhaps most pressing – is the United States prepared for foreign attempts to undermine this year’s midterms?
Join the IOP as we welcome Laura Rosenberger and Jamie Fly of The German Marshall Fund of the United States for a conversation on the future of election security and public faith in the democratic process. Ms. Rosenberger is the director of the GMF’s Alliance for Securing Democracy, a bipartisan, transatlantic initiative that is developing strategies for defending against Russian attacks on democratic institutions. Mr. Fly co-directs that project and is a senior fellow and director of the Future of Geopolitics and Asia programs at the GMF. They previously worked on national security issues as members the Obama and Bush administrations.
This conversation will be moderated by Kimberly Dozier, Global Affairs Analyst for CNN and Executive Editor of The Cipher Brief.
