DESCRIPTION:Commemorating this historic event, which helped forge the German-American friendship after World War II, the German Embassy and the Goethe-Institut will present the short film Bridges. To provide context and insight into the film, Berlin-based producer Florian Frerichs will join us for a panel discussion following the screening.

The short movie Bridges (2011) is an adaptation of a graphic novel that focuses on the American pilot Saul Bridges and his epic relationship with Traute and Lucas - two young Germans that saved his life after he was shot down by the Nazis in WW2. In the wake of the heroic Berlin Airlift operation, they meet again under circumstances that are no less fateful.
The production of “Bridges” was supported by the Embassy of the United States in Germany and the “Checkpoint Charlie Foundation”.
