For a while now, in my American circles of friends I have been hearing a phrase "Russian Culture is moving to the forefront of New York’s theater and art scene." And one only needs to look at the last several exhibits in Guggenheim and MOMA and plays like Utopia to find evidence that it is indeed true. It isn’t only the subways where you hear the language of Tolstoy and Pushkin; it is also on the stage and on the screen. |

To Benefit the Russian Children's Welfare Society
Soprano Anna Netrebko and baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky will perform a concert of opera arias and duets, with the Orchestra of St. Luke's led by Asher Fisch, on Wednesday, May 30 in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium. The concert marks Ms. Netrebko’s Carnegie Hall debut and will feature arias and duets from operas by Verdi, Donizetti, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Borodin, among others. |
