First time I saw a funny word "Chihuly" in a subway ad, I was intrigued as to what or who was it. Last week I actually saw Chihuly in action. Glass sculpture exhibition of Seattle based artist Dale Chihuly is on view at The NY Botanical garden. I'm not an expert in plants. However, I annually visit the Garden a couple times a year with my children because I consider it a "pretty park" with additional amusements for kids like "Adventure garden" or "Family Garden" . So Chihuly was not a main reason, but more an additional excuse for me to visit Botanical Garden. However I must admit I was really impressed by the exhibition. Being a fan of glass sculptures and ( surprise, surprise!) flowers and seeing one organically integrated in another was a big joy for my senses. |

“The False Servant” by Marivau Payan Theatre 300 W.43 St. Aug 24-26 @ 9pm and Aug 27 @ 3pm The play «False Servant» is yet another example of enormous versatility and enormous talent of the Off-Off-Broadway scene in New York. Written by the 17th century French playwright Marivaux, it is truly timeless and just as applicable today as it was three hundred years ago. Its adapted translation, written by Martin Crimp, is similar to Russian translations of Shakespeare – modern, relevant, and easily understandable.

BAND: Queensrÿche GENRE: Progressive Metal RATING: * * * * BEST SONGS: "I'm American," "Signs Say Go," "The Chase"
I don't like when people say that it takes balls to release a "sequel" to a largely successful album. It doesn't. It is nothing but a marketing gimmick. Nobody can convince me that twenty years after the original release the artist all of a sudden starts feeling the same way again. It is a no-loss situation, because people will buy the album in an attempt to revive their feelings of twenty years back and out of curiosity, wondering how the "new thing" compares to the original "masterpiece." And it's a no-win situation because they will undoubtedly be disappointed on both accounts. You cannot enter the same water twice; sequels don't work, much less in music, twenty years later.
