 "Red Elvises" will perform on Wed, Oct 15 @ DROM - NYC. They blend good old rock'n'roll with ethnic music from their homeland and make you dance 'til you drop. Before the concert, we took an interview with the band lead singer & songwriter - Igor Yuzov.
Q. Your group is an unusual combination of two cultures. So, are you a Russian or American band?
A. We concider ourselves a Russian-American band, we have 2 Americans in the band, and most of our following and concert venues are in US.
Q. We know you have traveled back “home” for concerts. Have the thought of going back to the “homeland” ever crossed your mind?
A. We go to former USSR at least 2 times a year and it is enough to cure your nostalgic feelings. California is my home now.
Q. What music do you listen to when you drive alone in your car?
A. I put my ipod on shuffle songs and wait for a surprise.
Q. You spend a considerable amount of time traveling. What is the most unusual place you’ve been to?
A. Probably Bangkok and Cambodia. Smolensk is quite strange too.
Q. Despite the fact that you were not born here, you are creating American culture. What were/are your inspirations?
A. Inspirations -American 50s and 60s music and Soviet rock 80s era.
Q. Are there new talents on the block that we should keep an eye on? A. Unfortunately recently i could not find anything what would inspire me in modern music. Although i still keep looking.
Q. What’s next for Red Elvises?
A. Next, to finish our new CD Drinking with Jesus and fly to Moscow to make a movie. See you at the show.
