Our team is laser-focused on DECREASING the number of animals suffering on the streets of LA by bringing spay/neuter to as many kitties as we can. Our shelters are always overflowing & we don't believe "giving animals away for free" is the answer.
You can't imagine the horrors we find doing street rescue. Yes, our focus in on fixing homeless animals, but we also can't leave an animal on the street to suffer. One rescue kitten presented with open sores that simply wouldn't heal & we had to cover a $165 fungal culture to get to the bottom of his open sores. We'd already spent  $17 for his exam fee, $28 for his FELV/FIV testing, $25.50 for his 1st round of vaccinations, deworming & flea treatment. His fungal test came back positive for a rare MSRA bacterial infection and now he'll be on antibiotics for at least a month. To be cleared for his neuter he'll need another culture/$165 & then his neuter equals $40 so he's adoption ready.
We've negotiated a generous rescue discount, however medical care isn't free, each healthy kitten we rescue equals between $80-125 just for besic testing, vaccinations, deworming, and spay/neuter before they're adoption ready. That's well over $500 just to rescue a littler of 5 babies from the street. 
Our gorgoeus Russian Blue kitty, Sophia is STILL battling a fungus called cryptococcus, we've  already spent over $2,000 on her monthly medication, exams & cultures.  
We spent $300 doing a complete dental cleaning on a 3 year ginger kitty & our teeny black rescue kitten Shadow became so constipated, she had to be hospitolized for 3 days & required x-rays & 2 surgical procedures to clear her stool. 
Our handsome siamese boy, Sinatra has been in specialized foster care for almost 2 months now due to a horrific neck wound which required a surgery to clean and suture close to 75% of his neck tissue.
