Andrew Donaldson, FRENCH Andrew's strong affinity for French language and culture led him to study French at Northwestern, completing an honors thesis on key medical terms in cardiovascular surgery. He continues to hone his French skills during his medical training at the University of Illinois at Chicago and intends to complete a clinical rotation in France.

Angela Gerel Lin, ARABIC Angela graduated in June 2017 with a degree in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences (MMSS) and Middle East North African Studies. She took four years of Arabic at Northwestern which provided her the language skills to go abroad to Amman, Jordan to conduct fieldwork for her senior honors math thesis on refugees. Having a strong background in Modern Standard Arabic made it easy for her to pick up the spoken dialect and helped me get her internship at the Queen Rania Foundation, where she did statistical policy analysis for impact evaluation team. Overall, Arabic has opened up countless opportunities to learn about cultures, histories, religions, and geographies that she would not have encountered had she not taken the language.
Marie Silver, SPANISH Staff attorney with the Immigrant Children’s Protection Project at the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC), she represents unaccompanied immigrant children in immigration court and in their applications for legal relief, including applications for asylum, visas for victims of trafficking, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status.
