Ian Maksin, Cello at (le) poisson rouge

composer and multilingual vocalist Ian Maksin will be performing a coast-to-coast three-city run: LA, Chicago, NYC. The NYC performance at the legendary club LPR (le poisson rouge) will be 235th concert on four continents since release of his album Zaria in April of 2017, and 78th in 2018 so far. Zaria is not just an album. It’s a journey. It’s a way of life. A way of bringing people together through music.  Since the album release one year ago, Maksin has nearly tripled his repertoire of original and folk music from different corners of the world: from East Siberian shamanic chants to Kurdish folk songs. From rugged rhythms of the Balkan Mountains to Afro-Cuban clave. Love songs in 15 languages so far and learning more. Everything melts into a unique fusion through Ian Maksin's magical cello. 
Cellist and composer IAN MAKSIN has gained international recognition for his beautiful tone, his own unique innovative style of playing the instrument and for taking the cello well outside its conventional role. His latest album Zaria was released in April of 2017 and features folk music from Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Belarus and Macedonia, Maksin’s original compositions inspired by tango, flamenco, Balkan music, shamanic rhythms and slavic pagan chants, as well as Maksin’s tribute to music of Jacques Brel, Bill Withers and Russian rock Boris Grebenshchikov. Although still very active as a classical artist, Ian Maksin’s latest focus has shifted towards blending many styles together: jazz, blues, rock, and world music, blending many styles together using cello as the common denominator. He can often be heard and seen in collaborative projects with artists from different corners of the globe: Palestine, Israel, Morocco, Cuba, Serbia, Iran, Pakistan, India, Spain, Mexico, Japan, just to name a few. As a guest artist, he has performed and recorded with such artists as Andrea Bocelli, P. Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Gloria Estefan and Barry Gibb. He has also opened performances for Sting and his guitarist Dominic Miller.

No refunds will be processed for unused tickets or for patrons who are denied entry due to not having valid identification for will call pickup or admittance to an age restricted event. Events are subject to change in date, time, reserved seat location or scheduled act at anytime. In the case of an event cancellation, refunds will be provided via the method of payment originally used. Resale of any ticket at a price greater than the original ticket price is absolutely prohibited.
