A story of war, love and death that was documented by participants. A young man volunteers for the front; his girlfriend goes there just after the battle. He fought in the ill-fated Battle of Ilovaisk (which started on 7 August 2014, and ended with a massacre at the hands of pro-Russian forces), losing his closest brother-soldiers. Traveling among ruined towns, she strives to understand the essence of war and love. Both openly discuss their feelings about the war, escaping the conflict; they attempt to live together afterward, and share a trip to the frontline.
