Artist Statement:
Elena Ivanova is a New York-based visual artist. Growing up in a family of musicians in Moscow, Russia, she was always surrounded by art, live music and the history of Russian avant-garde which had a significant influence on her work.
Moved by the intense energy of New York City, Elena sketches her interpretations of the events and experiences she encounters as a young woman. Her pieces are her own sessions of psychotherapy - she attempts to come to terms with uncertainty, find comfort in the chaotic city, and bring order to the restless mind.
She often finds inspiration in the underground music scene and searches for ways to find the connection between the sound and its visual interpretation.
She expresses herself in abstract designs through unique combinations of bold colors and shapes. Her work is meditative, mystic, and is always a result of raw emotion.
