the legacy of Viktor Perelman and his magazine “Time and We” will be presented. The site contains rare film footage, texts, letters and photographs from the magazine’s archive, as well as personal memories of colleagues and friends of Viktor Perelman, some of whom will appear in person. Many considered Viktor Perelman a “literary gold digger”. Amidst difficult conditions of 3rd wave emigration, “he did the impossible” for Russian-language literature of the 20th century, by gathering under his wing the best writers, poets, publicists, artists and photographers of the time” ( except for the concert, the program will be conducted mostly in Russian, see Russian description below )
Part 2 - In the second part, a concert titled “Nostalgia” will take place, in which famous and beloved piano and vocal musical works of the 20th century will be performed in 4 languages: Russian, Hebrew, French and English by Larissa A. Grabois, vocals; Eleanor Osmanoff, on piano & featuring Victoria Y. Grabois, vocals
Tatyana Borodina in collaboration with Irina Perelman present: A literary and musical evening dedicated to the 90th birthday anniversary of the late journalist, writer, and publisher Viktor Perelman (1929-2003), the creator and the sole editor of the famous 20th-century international magazine "Time and We". The magazine had been published from 1975 for over 25 years in several countries. The first issues of the magazine were published in Israel, and soon also in France, USA and later on, in Russia.
On the pages of 152 issues of “Time and We”, Viktor Perelman gave voice and tribune to over 2200 Russian and international authors. Yehoshua, and many other famous and less famous authors.
On the pages of “Time and We”, he also introduced to his readers, Vernissages of many now well-known artists such as Mikhail Shimyakin, Ernst Neizvestny, Mikhail Turovsky, Lev Zbarsky, Yuri Krasny, Kumar and Melamed, and many others. The late and well-known artist, Vagrich Bakhchanyan, illustrated a total of 66 covers of “Time and We" issues published in the US. Among the magazine's subscribers were over 150 Slavic Departments of world universities.
"Amidst the chaos of distrust and infidelity, in a world where brutality and falsehood are becoming a norm of human relations, we are committed to solely helping the reader to better understand TIME and ONESELF".
 Viktor Perelman (1975)

“ Perelman himself was an eloquent and engaging writer and essayist, which anyone who read his novels will attest to - "Forsaken Russia", "Theater of Absurd", "The Sinful Fall of Cesar" and others. However, his main gift to Russian culture lies primarily in that he was a “literary golddigger” - a definition he was crowned with by the publicist and literary critic, Lev Navrozov”
Ilya Baranikas, MK special correspondent, New York, November 13, 2013

“Vremia i My is based in the U.S., but has offices in Paris and Jerusalem, and its contributors represent a wide variety of backgrounds and political persuasions. It is arguably the most successful Russian émigré journal now in existence, partly as a result of its eclectic content, an attempt to cater to different tastes…”
Maurice Friedberg, SLAVIC REVIEW, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Reprinted from Slavic Review, American Quarterly of Soviet and East European Studies, Volume 40, Number 2, Summer 1981

“ The journal that Perelman founded in the diaspora, “Time and We", was a real publishing Hyde Park: one could write there with genuine freedom.”
Ivan Tolstoy, Russian Literary Historian Radio Liberty host of ‘Myths and Reputations’ "In memory of Viktor Perelman” November 17, 2013

“ Time and We” journal was a rare example of political tolerance, providing a tribune to writers like Vladimir Voinovich and Vasily Aksenov, Yuz Aleshkovsky and Viktor Nekrasov, Sasha Sokolov and Sergey Dovlatov, Boris Khazanov and Nina Voronel, Alexander Galich and Friedrich Gorenstein. I am naming only a few, so as not to turn an obituary article into a hall of fame for Russian literature and journalism. And Viktor Perelman, managed to gather such a prestigious group of authors around his magazine, solely because of his democratic, tolerant and, if you will, omnivorous approach"
Vladimir Soloviev, from an article about V. Perelman, ‘Victim of Own Success’ (“Paradoxes of Vladimir Solovyov” No. 48) November 16, 2003

“... without funding and connections, without a high-profile past, Viktor managed to create an outstanding magazine outside of Russia, without which the history of Russian literature of late 20th century, and the history of Russian social thought, would be incomplete”
Leonid Zhukhovitsky, Moscow publicist, From an article titled “He Did the Impossible”, about Viktor Perelman
