Huntington Ravine and Baldface Mountains in the White Mountains of New Hampshire

I have yet to climb up Huntington Ravine to Mount Washington, and dry summer weather would help. The ravine is the steepest hike up the Whites' highest mountain. It is very steep in places, and is NOT a hike for children or people with health problems (although there are lots of less difficult hikes nearby for people of all ages). We'll go to the Washington summit after the ravine, then go down Lion's Path or Tuckerman Ravine. I had planned on doing the ravine hike Sunday morning, but Saturday would be good too if rain threatens on Sunday. If the rocks at Huntington are wet both days, I've planned a backup hike up (less) steep Mt. Wildcat, followed by hiking west along the Wildcat ridge, then down the slope under the ski lift. The Sat. hike is planned for the Baldface Ridge loop east of Mt. Washington, on the other side of the wilderness area from the Carter-Moriah Range. This is a much easier hike than Huntington, less crowded, mostly above treeline with great views into Maine, but is still over 10 miles long. There is at least one waterfall trailside. The campsite for Fri., Sat. (and Sunday?) is Barnes Field or the adjoining Dolly Copp; TBD. I'd like to leave early Fri. morning and do a quick hike up Mt. Monadnock in southern NH en route to the Whites, and hike Mt. Killington in Vermont on Monday morning on the way back, if people have the time and energy to make a four-day hiking weekend of it. I can take off two weekdays, but feel free to arrive and leave according to your own schedule. There are cookout stoves at the campsites, and nearby Gorham has food and drink options. Shower facilities are at the Pinkham Notch visitors' center, at the foot of Mt. Washington; have quarters available to use these. Bring normal hiking accoutrements, especially good boots, sun protection, layers in case of freakish cold weather (a possibility on Washington) and a headlamp (although no night hiking is planned).
