Join RememberUs.org for a FREE educational talk by Professor Roald Hoffmann. Professor Hoffmann will recount his personal story of Holocaust survival, his journey to the United States, his advancement into becoming a Nobel Prize winner, and his trips back to his roots in Ukraine.
Professor Hoffmann was born in 1937 into a happy Jewish family in Złochów, Poland (now Zolochiv, Ukraine). After Germany invaded his town and sent many people to labor camps, a Ukranian family helped Roald escape. He hid in their attic for eighteen months. Much of Roald's family, and his town, perished in the war and merely 200 out of 4,000 Jews in Zolochiv survived. Afterwards, Roald's story brought him to America. He graduated Columbia University and Harvard University, and then went on to teach at Cornell. Today, Professor Hoffmann is a highly accomplished theoretical chemist, a poet, a playwright, and has recieved more than 25 honorary degrees.
