Russian Documentary Film Night @ the JCC

Filmmakers Ilya Blokh and Paul Sklyar explore different niches in the Soviet-American Jewish immigrant experience. In his film the "Banana Chronicles" Paul documents the childhood memories of leaving the FSU and arriving in America, shedding light on the universal psychology of child immigrants. In "Songs of Our Grandmothers" Ilya focuses his film on the songs that define the lives and cultural experience of older Soviet-Jewish immigrants; the screening will be followed by a musical performance of many of the songs featured in Blokh's film.
