Since its inception in 1965, the Petroushka Ball has been one of New York's most vibrant and elegant Black Tie events, attended by over 700 guests representing business, artistic and diplomatic spheres. The Petroushka Ball is the annual fundraising Gala to benefit the Russian Children’s Welfare Society charitable programs. Past Petroushka Ball events have featured leading soloists of the Metropolitan Opera, the American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Bolshoi Theater, and other prominent companies. The success of the Petroushka Ball is contingent upon the on-going participation of local and international businesses, as well as RCWS’ patrons.

All net proceeds from the Annual Petroushka Ball are directed towards RCWS’ charitable programs.  Among them are college scholarships for orphans (currently 157 students), medical treatment for children with severe facial deformities (annually over 200 little patients receive surgeries), assistance to orphanages, schools, rehabilitation programs for children with special needs, an annual “Yelka” (a Christmas and New Year celebration) in Moscow for over 1,000 disadvantaged children visiting from many areas of Russia, and other vital programs.
