Russian Film Night | The Magnitsky Act. Behind the Scenes

interested in Russia, US-Russia relations, human rights, law, criminal drama, the issue of Russophobia, and the power of propaganda.

What started as a drama about a Russian police plot to steal a billion dollars from a US financier and to murder his faithful tax lawyer Sergei Magnitsky, has become a real-life investigation of contradicting versions of the crime. The Magnitsky Case is central to the Magnitsky Act, a law which imposed first US sanctions against Russia in 2012 and signaled the start of the downward spiral in US-Russia relations.

Shockingly for the film's director, dissident and Putin basher Andrei Nekrasov, the official Western narrative surrounding the Magnitsky Case turns out to have serious flaws.
