About Serene: A rising concert pianist from the Bay Area, Serene has become known for her "uncanny ability to engage listeners with her sensitivity, commanding graceful presence, and technical ease." Though classically trained since age five, she never attended conservatory. Instead, she studied computer science at Carnegie Mellon University, graduated one year early with university honors, moved to Manhattan and began working at Google at age 20 while living on a sailboat in Chelsea. Soon afterwards she left to focus on music, where she is now ascending as a next-generation pianist. Serene is a Sunset Pianos Featured Performer, and you may recognize her from Flower Piano here in San Francisco. Her significant mentors include John McCarthy, Janet Hickey, Jim McCormick, and Albert Frantz.
Serene enjoys presenting the life-changing beauty and power of classical music with audiences both new and old, in a wide range of venues -- some as unconventional as her trajectory -- from beautiful concert halls to stages in the forest, river, or desert. Most recently she has "magically enthralled audiences" at the Vienna Musikverein, in Golden Gate Park, and inside a decommissioned Boeing 747.
